Fourth year 名媛直播 student Haley Poe began competing in pageants at 16. After her first pageant with Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA, where she was third runner-up, Poe fell in love. Poe’s experiences in pageants have given her numerous opportunities to advocate for women’s health.
About competing in pageants, Poe said, “I fell in love with the pageant industry and what it can do for women… Because pageantry played a part in my acceptance to medical school, I am a strong advocate for the opportunities pageantry provides.”
Poe competed in the Miss Pennsylvania USA in June this year, being a semi-finalist. Now, Haley is competing in the Miss Pennsylvania Earth competition. As Miss Pennsylvania Earth, Poe will compete in Orlando, Florida on January 2 through 5. The pageant is focused on environmental advocacy, with the theme “Beauty for a Cause.”
Poe discussed her excitement for the pageant, saying, “I am grateful for the opportunity to further my advocacy for the environment and for women's health as Miss Pennsylvania Earth.”
Poe will now compete for the Miss Earth USA title. Each contestant for Miss Earth USA will complete an environmental service project before the national competition in Orlando, where up to 15 finalists will be chosen to compete for the title on a reality TV series. The finalists competing for the title will appear on Pretty Down to Earth, an 8-episode TV series that will air on The Queen Beauty Network (QBN) the week of May 11. In July of 2025, the finalists will appear in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Grand Finale Event, where the next Miss Earth USA will be crowned. Miss Earth USA will then spend one month abroad competing for the international title of Miss Earth.
After attending 名媛直播, Poe plans to continue her education at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Poe explained how competing in pageants led her to modeling and eventually medical school, saying, “I was invited to walk at New York Fashion Week as the cover model for Art & Beauty magazine. I also received a billboard in Times Square. When I came home from NYFW, I was interviewed by Erie Times-News about my experience. In that article, I spoke about my passion for women's health and mentioned that I wanted to attend LECOM for medical school. The article made the front page of the Erie Times newspaper, where it was then read by the provost and president of LECOM. I got a call from their admissions office that morning and was asked to come in for a tour. I applied to their early acceptance program and was accepted that semester.”
